KW 01 January 2018
First things first: Welcome to 2018. We are off to a strong start. It’s been 9 days since the year started. It’s been over a month since my last email. I am still residing in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and I am getting ready to publish more.
Please share what you are up to in 2018 in reply to this email. Maybe we can collaborate. Perhaps I can help you!
With that said, here are the 5 bullets for you:
What I am reading: This $5 Billion Encrypted App Isn’t for Sale at Any Price
I have been inspired to use Telegram by Tobias a couple years ago. Since then I have had a love/hate relationship with messengers. There are just too many out there and switching between WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Threema, and Telegram is tedious. I’d like to see more people go towards Telegram. It’s the messenger I prefer out of all of the others. Contact me on there: @ChrisSpiegl
Cheating a little bit (and recommending two articles), I’d also recommend this read “New to Blogging? Ditch the Fear of Judgement” I have a hard time stepping out of my comfort zone with publishing all the time. This article helps me get over it.
What I am listening to: The Soundtrack of “The Greatest Showman”
Around Christmas, I went and saw this beautiful musical at the cinema here. It’s encouraging. Imaginative. And powerful. Lyrics about stepping out of the shadows and coming into the light. Staying true to oneself. And also staying loyal to your friends&family. It’s a powerful movie, but the soundtrack is what stuck even more and runs up and down all day.
What I am doing: Ally With Death Visualization [takes about 2 Hours]
Around the new year is the perfect time to look back at what’s past and to build the future. I got to know Candice Wu a few weeks ago in Chiang Mai, and she introduced me to her Ally With Death Visualization. Essentially a guide to visualizing the last hours before you die. Asking questions. Exploring what’s important.
It was an intense experience, and I am delighted I did it. It sheds light on many things. And in doing so, it helped me to get clear on where I want to set my priorities for the next year (blog post about my 2017 goals is coming next).
What I am watching: Billions in Change 2 [27 Minutes]
A few years ago they published “Billions in Change”. That was already inspiring. Now they gave us an update what one company with significant funding and a lot of passion can do if it’s not all about making more money. Super inspiring.
What I published:
I had this in my drafts folder for half a year. Now I finally published this short essay.
Looking back before I go forth. Heere are my accomplishments but also my failures and lessons learned.
Stay in contact and reach out if you need something. I am always happy to help!
