Already more than a year ago, I watched the movie Timescapes the first time. Now I had the opportunity to watch it in 2k again.
TimeScapes is the debut film from award-winning cinematographer and director Tom Lowe. The film features stunning slow-motion and timelapse cinematography of the landscapes, people, and wildlife of the American South West. Lowe spent 2 years roaming the Southwest in his Toyota pickup truck shooting the film.
And all I have to say is that this movie is amazing. Self titled the first 4k movie to be sold directly to customer and all that done on a gaming pc in a living-room? Lowe just rocked the movie creation world with that.
It may be pretty obvious that I like timelapse (since I shoot some myself) and I have to say that the trailers of Timescapes are the inspiration for that. Tom Lowe just excelled at the task. Not just that, but he also did an amazing job in merging all the timelaps with slow motion. Which in itself is a contradiction that just works out perfectly.
I am looking forward to the next project he is obviously working on. But we will have to wait a little longer till that is released in public.
If you have a chance: watch it, it is amazing (oh and did I mention the great music by Nigel John Stanford).
